Natac, in the top 15 companies by return in the Horizon Europe Programme
Natac Group (NAT), a biotech company specialising in the sustainable production of botanical extracts with proven health benefits, consolidates its position as a key player in innovation in Spain. The company ranks thirteenth nationally among companies with the highest return in the Horizon Europe Programme (2021-2023).
This is reflected in the latest report published by the Centre for Technological Development and Innovation (CDTI), which also highlights that Natac reaches the first position in funding in Cluster 6 -Food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment- which includes other entities such as the CSIC, Tecnalia or the CDTI itself.
At regional level, Natac is the leading private entity in Horizon Europe Programme funding in Extremadura, a region that has achieved a historic record with 22.5 million euros received in three years with the Horizon Europe Programme.
During the period 2021-2023 analysed, Natac has developed two projects: Robocoop-EU and Sustainext. The aim of the first one is to implement circular business models for the valorisation of agricultural waste from grapes, olives and stone fruits.
Meanwhile, the Sustainext project, led by Natac and involving twenty partners from Spain and Europe, aims to transform the production plant in Hervás into the most modern and sustainable plant extract biorefinery in the world. Funded by the Horizon Europe Programme, with a budget of €22m and a grant of €14m, Sustainext is the first project in the Flagship category awarded entirely to Spain.
