Research on inflammatory chronic diseases

Natac and the OLEOMEGA Project

Two companies within Grupo Natac together with the Pharmacy Department of Universidad de Sevilla and the Department of Physiology of the Faculty of Medicine of Universidad Complutense de Madrid have recently created a research consortium for the project OLEOMEGA New Technologies for the Development of Food and Drugs Based on Olive Tree Derived Ingredients for the Treatment of Inflammatory Chronic Diseases.

The main objective of the project is to develop a new generation of functional ingredients and active pharmaceutical principles based on the combination of olive and grape derived ingredients obtained by means of unique patented technologies owned by the abovementioned companies.

The project’s second strategic objective is to obtain solid scientific evidence that supports the utilization of said generation of ingredients to treat chronic illnesses with a relevant inflammatory component.

The budget for this project is close to 600.000 € and it is partially financed by the programme RETOS-COLABORACION 2014 of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competition.

With this project, Natac aims to reinforce its position as benchmark company in olive and grapevine-derived ingredients for animal nutrition.
