Sustainability-Esg
At Natac, sustainability forms part of our corporate roots; even before measuring our impact and developing a sustainability policy, the origin of our business model is based on the circular economy.
Our commitment
Our aim is to maintain a viable, sustainable business model that generates wealth and shared value with society.
Natac’s sustainable model, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Objectives, considers that actions such as responsible provisioning, efficient processing in terms of energy and other principles of sustainability are essential in the botanical industry. However, our focus goes a step further. The aim is to make a positive impact on our environment, preserving and regenerating the Earth, while at the same time optimizing the health and wellbeing of people.
How do we do this?
Natac starts with the evaluation and understanding of the supply chain at the point of origin; specifically, we analyze the agricultural and industrial practices that use botanical resources in order to understand the points during production at which the process has the potential for intervention and investment.
Ensuring freshness and processing in the agricultural product industries generate between 25 and 60% of the unused biomass. The agri-food industry uses natural resources like water and the minerals from the soil itself to produce fruits, vegetables, grains and plants.
If we do not completely use this production, we are wasting natural resources. Furthermore, we are losing nutrients, and depending on how this biomass is managed, it can be a source of pollution or a source of additional nutritional waste.
At Natac, we have the necessary knowledge to understand what nutrients can be obtained from each plant, and we know how, when and where to manage this biomass. We study the processes, plants, soils, cultivation methods and everything that affects the supply chain from the origin, in order to understand what, when and how things should be done.
A great example of this, and one of our advances in this sense, is our Sustainext project. We are transforming our multi-product factory in Hervás into the most modern, innovative, versatile, disruptive and sustainable factory in the world, following a zero-waste and zero-emissions strategy.
Environmental initiatives
In a world where environmental challenges are increasingly more urgent, our initiatives seek to generate a positive, sustainable impact. Through innovative projects and partnerships with institutions, we set out to preserve our natural resources and promote responsible practices that benefit both the planet and people.
Our factory has earned ISO 14001 environmental certification, a seal that guarantees our commitment to sustainability and respect for the environment.
Since 2023, Natac has been committed to the United Nations Global Compact on corporate responsibility and its principles in the areas of human rights, employment, the environment and anti-corruption.
We implemented the calculation model and the reduction of our carbon footprint as a key indicator with which we intend to continue to reduce CO2 emissions, as well as providing new solutions to protect the planet and respond to climate change.
INDICATOR: t CO2/unit in 2023
5,69 t CO2 e
per ton of production
Ethical commitment
We opt for the integration of ethics and transparency in our corporate management. We are committed to the generation of value that is shared with society as a whole and with our interest groups.
The commitment of the company’s administration to quality and the environment has been set out in the Quality policy and food safety documents, as well as in the Environmental policy published in 2021.
In this section you will find the company’s ethical code governing the behavior of all Natac employees and the code of conduct for our suppliers, encouraging them to commit themselves with us in aspects of social and environmental responsibility, aligning our entire supply chain with our values and commitments to people and the planet.
