ROBOCOOP-EU

Target

To promote the creation of regional business models focused on the valorization of agricultural by-products derived from the three key sectors: olive, grapevine and stone fruits.

  • Funding entity: European Union/Circular Bio-based Europe (CBE-JU) (Horizon Europe)
  • Budget: 5.930.147,75€
  • Start date: June 1, 2023
  • Duration: 36 months
  • European project

Project Description

The ROBOCOOP-EU project implements circular business models based on the bioeconomy at a regional level, focused on the valorization of olive, grapevine and stone fruit waste. Sustainable technologies will be developed to take advantage of the by-products derived from these crops, overcoming technological barriers and ensuring economic viability and low environmental impact. The project promotes a circular economy, which generates rural employment and reduces the ecological footprint.

The main innovation of ROBOCOOP-EU is the creation of cooperative business models to integrate circular bioeconomy chains in European regional centers, with the active participation of the primary sector. With a consortium of 22 partners from different sectors and the representation of agricultural coops from Extremadura, southern Italy and northern Greece, the project seeks to offer sustainable solutions that can be replicated in different agricultural regions.

Activities carried out by Natac:

Natac participates in this project as an expert in the design of biorefineries and biomass valorization models. Its activity is centered on the design of stabilization and pre-treatment of biomass, as well as leading the conceptual integration of the biorefinery on an industrial scale. This includes the modeling, integration and scaling of processes, as well as the evaluation of their technical-economic viability.
