Project Description
The OLEAF4VALUE project is led by Natac and consists of 16 partners. Its aim is to transform the biomass from olive leaves into high-value product through a Smart Dynamic Biorefinery. This project focuses on using the olive leaves, which are a little-used resource, but one rich in valuable phytochemicals, thus contributing to generating value and sustainability in the sector.
OLEAF4VALUE covers the entire value chain, from cultivation and harvest to the marketing of the end products, using advanced extraction and post-extraction technologies to adapt the products to different markets. So far, more than 40 bioproducts have been developed, of which more than 20 are pioneering innovations in the market.
Products derived from this biomass are designed for application in key sectors, such as food, animal nutrition, health care and cosmetics. Thanks to partnership with recognized brands within the consortium, we guarantee that these products meet the highest quality and effectiveness standards, thus facilitating their integration and acceptance in the market.
Activities carried out by Natac:
As project leader, Natac has focused its efforts on an exhaustive study of biomass, analyzing how agricultural and pre-treatment factors influence the phytochemical profile, and therefore the quality of the final products. Furthermore, Natac has also designed an innovative model of a smart dynamic biorefinery that optimizes the use of the raw material to obtain extracts of the highest quality. This approach not only prioritizes the efficiency and sustainability of the process, but it also ensures that the products developed are suitable for application in different markets.
