Natac Natural Ingredients (NAT), a biotechnology company specialized in the sustainable production of botanical extracts and omega-3 oils, has taken another step in its commitment to sustainability by obtaining the ‘Calculate and Reduce’ seal from the Carbon Footprint, Offset and Absorption Projects Registry of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge.
This recognition certifies that the company not only calculates its carbon footprint but has also succeeded in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions in recent years. Specifically, according to the certification issued by MITECO, Natac has achieved a 14.44% reduction in the average emission intensity for the 2022–2024 period compared to 2021–2023, for scopes 1+2.
“This is a very important step for Natac because it is the first time we have obtained both seals. Receiving them is clear evidence of our commitment in the fight against climate change and of the efforts we have made to reduce our carbon footprint,” highlights Carmen Nuevo, Director of QA & Environmental Management at Natac.
The company’s sustainability strategy is focused on steering its business toward an environmentally sustainable model, based on a circular bioeconomy, through the upcycling of plant-based raw materials.
